Bring the unforgettable flavour of sushi to your next dinner party with these sensational sushi canapés. Easy to make and stunning to look at, these canapés are made by rolling up Japanese sushi rice in nori seaweed, cutting it into bite-size discs, and topping each disc with a classic sushi filling. Customise your toppings however you see fit, then stand back and wait for the delighted compliments from your dinner guests.


300g prepared sushi rice
nori seaweed sheets

suggested toppings:
salmon sashimi
egg omelette
ikura (salmon roe) + cucumber
avocado + tuna + mayonnaise
cod roe + cream cheese
sashimi slices


  1. Prepare the sushi rice. If you need directions, follow our how to make sushi rice recipe.
  2. Prepare the toppings by slicing and cutting if necessary.
  3. On a sushi mat, place the nori and spread the sushi rice on top. Roll without putting any ingredients inside to make a plain roll.
  4. Cut the rice roll into 6-8 pieces.
  5. Top with the toppings of your choices.
  6. Arrange them on a plate and serve with soy sauce for dipping.
