This noodle soup dish consists of thick, chewy, pre-cooked udon, crispy burdock tempura pieces and umami-rich soup stock with wakame seaweed, all of which come packaged in an aluminium foil tray that also serves as a saucepan. A great winter warmer that saves on the washing up.

Udon are among the most widely enjoyed noodles in Japan. Udon are normally much thicker than other Japanese noodles such as soba or ramen, with a distinct chewy texture that makes them particularly ideal for enjoying either with denser, thicker sauces, or in clear, hot soups. Here at Japan Centre we have a great range of dried, par-boiled, and instant udon items available in our Udon Noodles section.


• Empty the aluminium tray and pour in 300ml hot water (up to marked line).
• Add noodles to the tray and place on the stove. Cook for approximately 1 minute.
• Loosen the noodles, add the powdered soup and tempura, then allow to come to a gentle simmer before serving.
