Hakutsuru Shuzo Junmai Ginjo Sake, 300 ml

Delivery to England, Wales, and Parts of Scotland only. Collection only available from Park Royal. May require ID check before dispatch.

A subtle yet fantastically flavoured junmai ginjo, made gentle to drink.

There's few sake out there that can be enjoyed as light and refined as this junmai ginjo by Hakutsuru Shuzo. Pouring practically clear thanks to natural spring water of the local Nada region of Hyogo prefecture, it's slight yellow/green tint complements its floral and grassy nose, with faint notes of melon and anise luring you into its surprisingly fruity and alcoholic palate. With a wonderfully mellow and smooth mouthfeel despite its strong burn, this junmai ginjo successfully balances its crisp tastes with a silky flow that arrives thanks to the quality of rice used in its brewing. A very dry finish gives this sake a refreshing end that completes its gentle and enjoyable drinking experience, making it ideal for those looking for a light and nuanced sake to appreciate. Best enjoyed chilled.

Sake is Japan’s most well-known alcohol. It is brewed using special sake rice, koji (an edible rice mould that serves as the fermenting agent), and sometimes a little brewer's alcohol. A sake's characteristics, including how sweet or dry it is, how light or full bodied it is, and what flavours it evokes, depend on the type of rice and other ingredients used, how much the rice is polished/milled, and what brewing methods have been employed.
