A fabulous tribute to the finest whiskies from Japan, comes in this exquisite pure malt whisky.

Made in honour of Masataka Taketsuru, founding father of Nikka's trademark whisky, this whisky has been meticulously blended from a selection of casks located in Nikka's two distilleries, Yoichi and Miyagikyo, to combine styles of fruitier more vibrant young whiskies with that of aged, well-ripened older ones. This has created a delicately balanced and complex flavour, perfect to celebrate the progress that has led to this gorgeous whisky. With an engaging nose from the off, the youthful fruitiness of freshly-pressed fruit immerses you in a cornucopia of light springy peach and grape, opening into creamier pastry tones that soothe your senses into the warmer and pungent citrus and herbal aromas. This follows on into the palate extending from indulgent coffee grounds and toasted oak to licorice and smoky burnt cigar notes, that genuinely express the multitude of styles this whisky looks to honour and accentuate. It's powerful and clever palate allows you to absorb in it's bitter refined licorice finish, mellowing into a soothing verdant essence of eucalyptus and camphor really allowing you to unwind and appreciate everything that has gone into this fabulous whisky.

VARU-ID: #14821

Though similar to Scotch whisky (hence the spelling), Japanese whisky makers have been able to usurp the Scots’ position as the best makers of whisky in recent years despite being relatively new to whisky manufacturing. Japanese whisky is often noted for its balance, smoothness and delicate nature as well as adherence to traditional methods such as the use of coal in fires during the distilling process.
