GEKKEIKAN SAKE COOKING COMPETITION 2016

RULES OF ENTRY

All entrants must submit two recipes; one savoury dish and one sweet dish, both of which must be an original and a non-Japanese recipe.

Gekkeikan sake must be used in the integral part of the recipes.

The dishes will be judged upon:

  1. Taste, flavour and texture
  2. Presentation
  3. Presence of aroma and/or flavour of sake

Entry is open to all chefs and experienced home cooks. Recipes should be in metric measurements and fit the description of ‘dinner for two.’ Applicant must be 18 or over as of 1 October 2016 and a resident of the UK.

Five shortlisted finalists will be selected by Gekkeikan Sake Cooking Competition committee.

Announcement of this event will be:
Monday 12 September 2016

Closing date for entrants will be:
Friday 30 December 2016

Six successful shortlisted candidates will be announced on:
Monday 4 January 2017

The final will take place on Sunday 29 January 2017 between 10:00 – 17:00 at School of Wok, 61 Chandos Place, Covent Garden WC2N 4HG. The finalists must be available to travel to the venue and attend the event on this date.

1st Prize:
Trip to Kyoto, Japan - return flight ticket and five nights hotel stay- including 2 days training at the prestigious Gekkeikan Sake Brewery School in Fushimi, Kyoto (Sunday 19th February - Friday 24th February 2017).
