If you’ve ever wanted to enjoy shirataki but didn’t know how, why not try our Shirataki Curry Soup recipe? Shirataki are a type of noodle made from the konjac plant and boasting a far lower calorie count than udon, soba or ramen noodles. With curry spices and fresh vegetables, this recipe is a filling and healthy way to enjoy these amazing noodles.


• 400g shirataki noodles
• 2 potatoes
• 6 asparagus stalks
• 1/2 carrot
• 1 tbsp soy sauce
• 0.5 tbsp chicken stock granules
• 1 tsp curry powder


  1. Wash the shirataki and drain well. Cook the shirataki in boiling water for 1-2 minutes before draining again and setting to one side. Using scissors roughly cut the shirataki into shorter lengths. Next, peel the carrot and clean the potatoes, then chop the carrot, potatoes and asparagus into bite sized pieces.

  2. In a pan add 4 cups of water, the soy sauce, chicken stock granules, curry powder and bring to the boil. Add the potato and simmer for approx. 10 minutes.

  3. When the potato begins to soften add the shirataki, asparagus and carrot and simmer for a further 2-3 minutes then serve.


- You can also use leek to give the dish more Japanese flair.
