Kombu (or konbu) kelp is one of the most commonly eaten types of seaweed in Japanese cuisine. Kombu is particularly high in umami, making it an ideal seasoning and a commonly utilised ingredient in dashi soup stock. It is also often enjoyed shredded and seasoned with various seasonings.


This dark shredded salted konbu kelp can be used straight from the packet as:
• A Japanese-style salad ingredient.
• Mix into rice, onigiri and ochazuke for added savoury flavour.
• An ingredient to add saltiness to stir-fries.
