A craving for chewy mochi desserts doesn't have to wait, when this Showa clear mochi mix makes them ready in minutes. Simply by stirring the mixture into hot water, you can gradually alternate heating and mixing until it forms the thick translucent paste needed to mold you sticky spoonfuls of mochi. Shape each one while warm and leave it to cool in iced water, so your mochi ball's stiffen and complete their jelly-sweet texture. 背景

Mochi is a much-loved staple ingredient and rice dessert made both skillfully and sweetly to bring out some of Japan's most decadent flavours. By soaking glutinous rice overnight and masterfully hammering it into a thick paste, using a special long wooden hammer and pestle, each square or cube is ceremoniously prepared usually around new year and festivals to draw crowds and create a delicious spectacle. Known for its chewy and squishy texture mochi makes the perfect bitesize treat to enjoy your favourite dessert fillings and is surprisingly versatile in Japanese cooking, adding a stringy cheese-like texture to dishes like okonomiyaki and ozoni. 使い方

Pour 150ml of water in a microwave safe bowl and put in a 600W microwave for 90 seconds. Add the mix and stir until evenly combined. Put in the microwave for 90 more seconds. Then stir about 10 times, and put in the microwave for a further 90 seconds. Do not cover. Take care when removing from the microwave. Using teaspoons, scoop and form small balls of the finished product of about 2cm in diameter. Then place the balls into ice water to cool and form. Remove from the water and drain. Then enjoy. You can also combine equal parts of water and fruit juice when making the mochi to add a different flavour or try using in bubble tea instead of tapioca pearls.
