Give your favourite starter dish a Japanese flare with these mouth-watering spicy teriyaki chicken wings. The trick to these wings is the marinade, which combines the sweetness of honey, the spiciness of shichimi togarashi spice, and the savoury umami flavours of soy sauce. The long marinating time allows the salts in the soy sauce to tenderise the chicken and gives all the flavours time to fully infuse. Enjoy with your favourite condiments.


500g chicken wings

for the marinade :
3 tbsp soy sauce
3 tbsp honey
1 tbsp shichimi togarashi


  1. In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients for the marinade.
  2. Add the chicken wings and evenly coat in the marinade. Put in a sealed bag or container and store in the fridge for a few hours or overnight.
  3. Cook in a fan oven for about 25 minutes at 180ºC or until the chicken is cooked. (To check if the chicken is cooked cut one wing open and if the meat is white then it is ready.) Turn the chicken wings a few times during cooking for even cooking. Enjoy.
