I was keen to pit *** against *** that I normally buy. Initially, I was a regula with *** mat (slices) from their 250g jars or preferably from their 500g pouches. But that was until I discovered their 2.5kg *** was better in taste and it has no MSG or 2g carbs.\n\nSo how does *** compare? Unfortunately, compared to these three, the taste for me isn’t quite there. It lacks the heavy fermented smells and taste. It’s texture of the bite is very crisp - the cabbage seems young and fresh meaning it may not have fermented long enough. The mouthfeel texture is just wrong: it feels sticky and gloopy and the ingredients explain why: they’ve used thickener!\n\nWorst of all, I was dismayed to discover that it has 22g carbohydrates (in 100g) of which 21g is SUGAR! Why oh why, ruin a natural product with processed sugar? I think its there to make up for its deficiencies described above...people unconsciously gravitate to sugar unless they read the label (which is almost illegible).\n\nI suspect this will be my first and last foray with *** unless the company drastically changes direction.\n\nOne positive note: their jars are recyclable.
