Shiratama ko is a powder made of sweet mochi rice that has been rinsed, soaked, crushed and dried to make a key ingredient for Japanese baking. Think of it as a sort of ‘instant mochi’. Mochi is used in Japanese cooking as an ingredient in a variety of traditional Japanese dishes, particularly desserts.
