Finely ground to dissolve in hot water, this kelp tea not only provides savoury-sweet refreshment, but also creates a mellow base of flavour for chazuke rice, simmered foods and vegetable dressings. Kombucha, or kombu kelp tea, is different from most other Japanese teas in that it does not contain actual tea leaves. Instead, kombucha is an infusion of kombu kelp seaweed, which is high in umami and yields a savoury flavour. Because of this kombucha can also be used like dashi soup stock and added to soup and noodle dishes.

Guide d'utilisation

To make heartwarming Japanese chazuke rice soup:

• Add approx. 100g of warm boiled rice into a bowl.
• Add 1 sachet of kombu kelp tea and desired ingredients (e.g. furikake rice seasonings) on top of the rice.
• Finally, pour in approx 100ml of boiling water. Mix lightly and serve!
