Combine Japanese and Western breakfast food favourites with this easy-peasy natto toast recipe. Natto is a Japanese health food made from fermented soy beans, with a strong savoury flavour and slimy texture strongly divides people's opinions - a true 'love it' or 'hate it' food. This recipe is fantastic for ensuring that you get your natto fix, whether that be for breakfast or later on in the day.
Cut yourself a wodge of shoku pan bread and stick it under the grill to make it nice and toasty. Be careful if you’re using a toaster, shoku pan is sliced more thickly than your standard British loaf and can get stuck if you’re not careful.
In the meantime, put your natto in a bowl, add the included sauce and whisk with chopsticks until it’s nice and frothy.
Spread the natto on top and decorate with Japanese karashi mustard, yum.
