Enjoy the best of Japanese and Western cuisine with this creamy salmon recipe. Inspired by white sauce fish recipes, this dish is not only easy to make, but uses traditional Japanese ingredients to add really unique flavour. Enjoy for lunch or dinner, perhaps with sides of rice and steamed vegetables.


• 1 tsp dashi powder
• bonito flakes
• 100g x 4 salmon fillets
• 200g mayonnaise
• lemon
• dill

How To Prepare

  1. Place salmon fillets on aluminium foil.

  2. In a small bowl, dissolve OFJ dashi powder with 1 teaspoon of hot water, then add the mayonnaise. Mix well till fully incorporated.

  3. Pre-heat the grill to a medium heat.

  4. Place the mayonnaise and dashi mixture on the salmon and grill for 6 to 8 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork and the mayonnaise sauce is slightly browned.

  5. Garnish with dill, bonito flakes and a slice of lemon for squeezing.

Tips and Information

• Optional: Add diced chilli (spicy option) or diced red peppers (non-spicy option) to the mayonnaise to add more flavour and colour.

• This recipe is equally delicious with white fish or chicken.
