Make delicious and healthy sushi without the fuss using this chirashi sushi recipe. Made from sushi rice and a variety of tasty toppings normally seen in rolled sushi, such as fish and vegetables, chirashi sushi is commonly enjoyed during hinamatsuri, or the doll festival. This recipe is great for a party, or even as something a little bit different to take for lunch.

• 1 packet chirashi sushi rice mix
•  500g cooked rice

How To Prepare

  1. Start by cooking 500g of Japanese rice as per the cooking instructions on the packet of the rice. There is no need to make this sushi rice as we will add the rice vinegar later.

  2. Open the chirashi sushi rice mix pack and mix in one sachet with the warm rice using a ride paddle or large spoon.

  3. Once the rice has cooled, place it onto a serving plate or bowl and add any additional garnishes that come with the rice mix.

  4. Your chirashi sushi is now ready to be served, but you may want to add some omelette strips, sliced cucumber, or any other suitable sushi ingredients to give it more colour and flavour.
