Bring massive amounts of Japanese flavour to your snacks with these soy flavoured candied almonds. Almonds are one of the best types of snack food out there, being delicious, packed with nutrition, and easy to carry around. This recipe uses a combination of sweet and salty seasonings to give almonds extra oomph that will leave you hungry for more.


100g almonds
120g caster sugar
25ml shibanuma soy sauce
20ml brandy

How To Prepare

  1. Slowly heat the sugar and brandy in a non-stick pot on low heat for roughly ten minutes, or until the liquid is thick and caramelised.
  2. Take the pot off the heat and add the soy sauce. Mix the caramel sauce quickly so that the soy sauce does not burn.
  3. Add the almonds and mix to coat evenly in the sauce.
  4. Place almonds on parchment paper and allow to cool.
  5. Store in an airtight container.
