Tender with a little bite.

Add body to your soups and salads with this dried and shredded wakame seaweed. Mild and slightly sweet in flavour, these flakes of dried wakame expand and rehydrate when added to water, becoming a welcome source of nutrients and an additional element of texture in your cooking.

ITEM ID: #798

Background

Seaweed is not commonly used in Western cuisine, but in many types of Eastern cooking, including Japanese cuisine, it is an invaluable source of umami/savoury flavour and hearty texture. From crispy nori seaweed to bitey, hearty wakame, there is an exciting world of edible seaweed out there to explore. Take a look at Japan Centre’s Seaweed section for a great range of easy-to-use edible seaweeds.

How To Use

Make sure to reconstitute this wakame seaweed before using.
• Add a handful of wakame seaweed to a bowl.
• Wait until it fully expands in the water (5-10 minutes).
• Add to miso soup or salads for a health boost.

I use it in misoshiro (miso soup).\nI recommend it to people who are not used to eating sea vegetables, as wakame is easy to eat and to digest.

Quick and convenient for use in miso soups. Expands to at least 5 times it’s size. Very good value for money.

Little of seaweed goes a long way. Tastes great and 1 pack lasts long time.

Ok so this is not what I assumed it would be. I thought it would be sheets like for wrapping around sushi. Instead it's dried threads of seaweed that smell and taste as if it just got collected from the beach. So it's not for snacks but it tastes healthy if you know what I mean!!
