Easy to prepare, easy to eat! The vegetables in this packet (including carrot, shiitake mushroom, lotus root and others) have been seasoned with soy sauce and sugar to give them an extra sweet-salty flavour. Can be warmed up in the microwave or on a hob, or alternatively can be put straight into a bento lunch as a side dish.

Umani is a style of cooking, whereby fish (or meat) and vegetables are boiled in soy sauce sweetened with sugar. This practice allows the saltiness of the soy sauce and the sweetness of the sugar to infuse into the fish/meat/vegetables and make their flavour more complex.

How To Use

These umani vegetables can be prepared in the following ways:
• Pour vegetables into a microwave-safe dish, cover with cling film and microwave for 1 minute (for a 500W microwave).
• Without opening packet, submerge into a pot of boiling water and boil for approximately 3 minutes.
• Serve cold as part of a bento lunch.
