Make your own amazing, lightly salty Japanese style pickles with this easy-to-use mix! Made with salt from Ako, in Hyogo central Japan, all you have to do is mix this with your chosen vegetables (cucumber, aubergine, cabbage etc), leave to marinade for 30 minutes and enjoy!

Pickles are a traditional Japanese accompaniment to many different types of dishes, adding an often much-needed sour hint to a meal. Pickles can be made from just about any vegetable, but cucumber, daikon radish, onion, garlic and ginger are frequently used.

How To Use

Prepare your pickles in the following way:
• Wash and cut 200g of vegetables into bite-sized pieces.
• Put into a bowl and sprinkle with one sachet of seasoning. Mix well to make sure all of the vegetables get evenly covered.
• Cover with cling film, then leave to marinate in the fridge for 30 minutes.

I use this for making cucumber pickles. Super easy to make. Great in combo with a perilla rice seasoning to make a quick perilla pickle. A mainstay of all my Japanese meals
