Harusame are one of many different types of noodles eaten and loved in Japan. Harusame were originally derived from mung beans, but now come in a number of different varieties. Although normally flavourless, Harusame readily absorb flavours and add a pleasant texture to a meal, be it soup, salad, stir-fry or dessert. Their being translucent could also provide a talking point among your friends if you were to serve them one day.
Harusame should always be placed in boiling water for three to five minutes before being added to other dishes.
Once done, Harusame can be enjoyed in several ways:
• Served warm as part of a stir fry or soup, or served cold as part of a refreshing salad.
• deep fried then sprinkled over the top of other dishes for extra crunch.
