A speciality of Hita, Oita prefecture in Kyushu southern Japan, these fresh yakisoba noodles come with a delicious special spicy yakisoba sauce designed to compliment the flavour of beansprouts, pork and spring onion. Easy to make, using just one pan, this regional style sweet and savoury yakisoba will be sure to become your favourite!

Background

Yakisoba are wheat noodles that are fried with sliced pork and cabbage, then topped with pickled red ginger and plenty of yakisoba sauce and mayonnaise. They are a popular summer food and often sold at stalls during Japanese festivals.

How To Use

These noodles help you make yakisoba quickly and easily.
• Warm a frying pan, add 1 tbsp of lard or cooking oil, then stir fry 30g of pork.
• Add the yakisoba noodles to the pan, separate them well and shape into a circle. Heat until the noodles are browned on one side, then flip over and cook on the other side.
• Add 100g of beansprouts and 20g of spring onion and stir fry while separating the noodles. Add the liquid yakisoba sauce and mix well, then serve!
