Sekihan is a traditional celebration food in Japan. Most commonly made with azuki beans, it’s popular for the wonderful and auspicious red colour the beans turn the rice. This lively colour also makes sekihan a popular choice as a filler for bento lunch boxes.

How To Use

Sekihan makes a great healthy meal or colourful bento lunchbox filler.
• Add 3 cups of washed white rice to your rice cooker, pour on the sekihan mix. Or use 2 cups of mochi rice and 1 cup of white rice / 3 cups of mochi rice instead.
• Fill with water up to the level indicated for 3 servings of rice in your cooker and mix well. If making sekihan with 3 cups of white rice add an extra 100ml of water. If making your sekihan using only mochi rice, simply add just 300ml of water.
• Cook as white rice and enjoy.
