Warming Japanese comfort food.

Be kind to your insides in the morning or during colder days with Taimatsu's egg rice porridge. Known in Japanese as Kayu, this porridge is made using a mixture of soft, chewy Koshihikari rice from Niigata prefecture and fluffy, seasoned omelette. Enjoy this mild savoury porridge as it is, or add pickles, or a sprinkle of bonito fish flakes, for a little extra flavour.

ITEM ID: #4234

Kayu is rice that has been boiled with a large volume of water to create a thick porridge. Eaten all over East Asia when one is feeling unwell (making it something like the Asian equivalent of chicken soup), kayu is also a great alternative to the oat-based porridges commonly enjoyed here in the UK for breakfast.
