Background

Nabe is a hot pot full of assorted meat, tofu and vegetables, all boiled in a flavoursome soup stock and usually eaten during the cold Japanese winters. When nabe was originally made, the hot pot at the centre of the table was used as a source of heat. Everybody crowded around the table to enjoy the heat of the pot as well as the delicious meal that resulted. For more flavours and styles of nabe soup base, take a look in Japan Centre's Ready Made Sauces section.
