Long, thin, best served cold.

Allow Tomoshiraga's somen noodles to cool you down during the warmer months. Grouped into five equal bunches, these somen noodles are made from wheat flour, water and a little salt, and are so long and thin that they can be cooked in just three minutes. Serve your somen cold with tsuyu dipping sauce and assorted garnishes.

ITEM ID: #1452

Background

One of the lesser-known varieties of Japanese noodle, somen are long and very thin wheat noodles that are most notorious for how little time they take to prepare. They are commonly served cold with tsuyu dipping sauce and assorted garnishes, but they are also excellent for hot noodle soups. For a fantastic range of dried, pre-cooked, and instant noodles, take a look at japancentre.com's Noodles section.

How To Use

These noodles are great in soups and stir frys.
• Add the noodles to boiling water.
• Cook for 2 mins., then drain and wash the noodles in cold water.
• Serve with pickles and dipping sauce, cold tsuyu sauce for the summer or hot dashi broth for the winter.

We like somen in the 'summer' even in Scotland where it's more like Fall.
