A noodle dish for the finest of warriors.

For a simple yet delicious Japanese noodle dish, look no further than Heiwanomen's Samurai Somen. These refined somen noodles have been kneaded carefully by expert noodle makers for the perfect thin, slippery shape. The included tsuyu soup base, meanwhile, is made with traditionally brewed soy sauce, bonito fish flakes, kombu kelp seaweed and shiitake mushrooms, giving it a rich umami flavour that you will not soon forget. Cooking instructions in Japanese, English, and Chinese included.

ITEM ID: #12163

Background

Somen are perhaps not quite as well-known among non-Japanese folks as the likes of soba, udon and ramen. But rest assured they are no less delicious! Somen noodles are round, super thin, and generally served cold on a bamboo tray or on top of a bed of ice with tsuyu dipping sauce and assorted garnishes. For more somen and other lesser-known varieties of Japanese noodle, check out Japan Centre's Speciality Noodles range.

How To Use

• Cook half the noodles noodles in boiling water for 3 minutes, stirring gently.
• Pour one sachet of noodle soup into a bowl and dilute with 200ml boiling water.
• Drain noodles and add to soup.
• Alternatively, dilute the soup with 100ml cold water and wash the cooked noodles in cold water before serving with the soup on the side for a cold somen dish.
