Soba noodles as pure as they come.

A Japanese meal does not get much more traditional than Yamamoto Kajino's pure soba noodles. 'Soba' is the Japanese word for 'buckwheat', and these noodles as such are made from 100% buckwheat flour. This gives them a uniquely rustic, earthy, nutty flavour that works well served hot with Japanese noodle broth, or served cold with tsuyu dipping sauce and assorted garnishes on the side.

ITEM ID: #11445

Background

Soba is one of the three most commonly eaten types of noodle in Japan (along with udon and ramen). Soba’s primary unique characteristic is that it are made partially, if not entirely, from buckwheat. Buckwheat has an earthier flavour to regular wheat that works well with herby and umami flavours. Take a look at japancentre.com's entire Soba Noodles range.

How To Use

• Add soba noodles to plenty of water. Push noodles as they soften until completely submerged. Allow to cook for around 6 minutes, then remove from the heat and let rest for a further 2 minutes.
• Strain and add straight to a hot noodle soup (if enjoying hot), or strain and rinse under cold water to cool down, if enjoying cold.
• If enjoying cold, serve on a zaru tray or plate with tsuyu dipping sauce on the side.
