This 355ml glass bottle of sushi vinegar is a very mild vinegar made from rice with added sugar and salt that is mixed with plain boiled rice to create sushi rice. As this rice vinegar is so mild, it can also be used as a dressing on salads too.
Sushi vinegar can also be called seasoned rice vinegar and is an important part of making sushi. Vinegar was originally added to rice as a way to help preserve the fish before refrigeration. Although not necessary anymore, the tradition has stuck and the rice vinegar is more for flavour now.
To make sushi rice.
• Cook your Japanese rice as per our instructions.
• Once the rice is cooked, add it to a large bowl.
• While the rice is cooling, add one tablespoon of sushi vinegar to every one cup of cooked rice.
• Fold the vinegar in until the rice has fully cooled. Your rice is now ready to make sushi!
