This Makurazaki bonito tsuyu soup stock has been made with bonito caught near the sub-tropical port town of Makurazaki, famous for its traditional fishing processing methods that leave these bonito flakes with a deep and delicious savoury taste. These famous bonito have helped this Makurazaki bonito tsuyu soup stock to win the Monde Selection prize 3 years in a row and at 3 x concentrated, when used in traditional noodle soups, dips and vegetable seasonings even a little will go a long way.


Tsuyu is the delicious soup stock used for most Japanese noodle dishes, hotpots and can even be used as a rich dipping sauce for tempura. Tsuyu has become an increasingly popular condiment in Japan and is made from a blend of dashi soup stock and a mixture of soy sauce, mirin and sugar.

How To Use

This tsuyu soup stock makes for delicious noodle soups, dipping sauces and dressings:
• Add 1 part tsuyu to 5 parts hot water for a traditional noodle soup.
• Add 1 part tsuyu to 3 parts hot water for hot soups and stews.
• Add 1 part tsuyu to 2 parts cold water for a cool noodle dipping sauce.
